District #5360 "Family of Rotary"
2005-2006
We realize that our families are an important support to the work of
Rotary. We also recognize that our Club members constitute our "extended
family" of service, which binds us together in a special way. To support
the District theme of "Fun with a Purpose" DG Steve and Marie encourage
us to take every opportunity to participate in Club social events… and
to create and instigate activities that will encourage fellowship among
club members and volunteers!
For the upcoming year, we are asking each Club to simply focus on the
following two things:
- Share all our "best ideas" by responding to our District Survey…
Many Clubs are doing great things already, or have some new plans, and
it would be nice to highlight and share those ideas throughout the District.
It might create awareness and inspire the rest of us to try some new
things for fellowship and support of our members...
- Learn more about Rotary Fellowships and encourage participation...
Did you know there are over 80 "fellowships", which are groups of Rotarians
who share a common interest? It would be fun to know other Rotarians
in the District and internationally who share our recreational or professional
interests!
Some other suggestions for promoting "Family of Rotary" in our Club
activities…
- Utilize our District "logo" to identify "Family of Rotary" within
your Club.
- Have a Club "Family of Rotary" event…
A family picnic? A walk/run through the park? A hockey game or bowling
tournament? A dinner and a movie night? What would be a good way to
include the family members of the Rotarians in your Club? Let us know
your ideas!
- Connect with at least one other Rotary Club…
Plan a joint meeting, a shared project, or simply a "toast" to recognize
a neighboring Club!
- Encourage our family members to join Rotary...
Some of our most dedicated Rotarians are those whose spouse is also
a member. Some Rotarians proudly introduce their sons or daughters as
new members. Rotary becomes something that enhances family togetherness,
rather than taking away from family time. It would be fun to have special
recognition for families in Rotary.
We would really appreciate ideas and assistance with the
District FoR Committee!!
Just give me a call!!
