Mark (Jennifer) Starratt.
The Rotary Club of Calgary Crowchild

Mark was born in Saint John, New Brunswick and grew up throughout the Maritime provinces until his family moved to Peace River, Alberta in 1983. In 1988, Mark and his family moved to the beautiful Rocky Mountains of Banff. After graduating from the University of Alberta with a Bachelor of Commerce, Mark moved down to Calgary where he has been since 1996.

Working in the financial services industry since 1991, Mark is currently Director, Portfolio Manager and Partner with GMP Private Client LP. Mark co-leads The Starratt Team, a 5-member investment management and financial planning team with his brother, Scott. Mark holds a Certified Financial Planner (CFP) and Certified Investment Manager (CIM) designation and is both a Fellow of the Canadian Securities Institute (FCSI) and an Accredited Investment Fiduciary (AIF).

Mark's early involvement in Rotary can be traced back to his teenage years, where he represented the larger District 5360 in such programs as Adventures in Technology, the 4-way speech competitions and RYLA.

Mark was inducted into the Rotary Club of Calgary Olympic in February 1997. In 1999, Mark was on the formation committee of the Rotary Club of Calgary Crowchild and became its Charter President. Mark has been an active club and board member since that time. In 2003, then Governor Mike Smith asked Mark to become District Membership Chair, a position that he continued through Governor Ken Copithorne's Centennial Year. In 2005, Governor Steve Rickard invited Mark to become an Assistant Governor.

Mark is a Paul Harris Fellow, a charter member of the Paul Harris Society, a member of the Bequest Society and a Major Donor of The Rotary Foundation.

In September 2005, Mark was named one of Calgary's Top 40 Under 40 for his professional success and commitment to the community. While not working or involved in Rotary, Mark is an active member of St. Luke's Roman Catholic Parish, a Senator at the University of Calgary, the Chair of the Board of Trustees of the Banff Sports Hall of Fame and enjoys singing, playing golf and bridge.

In July of 2007, Mark returned to the beautiful setting of the Rocky Mountains of Banff, this time to marry his wife, Jennifer.
