It has been some time since we welcomed visitors from Canada & the USA to Shanghai to visit the provisional RC Shanghai or previously the Expatriate Rotarians and Friends in Shanghai - but we are happy to inform you that on 8 February this year by decision of the RI Board - our club was formally chartered. To help celebrate this unique event and the fascinating history of the Rotary Club of Shanghai (first chartered in 1919) we have the honour and pleasure of hosting RI President Stenhammar on 22 May 06 when he will come to Shanghai to personally present us with our new charter. We would like you to come join us for this most auspicious event -- and we would appreciate it if you would notify the clubs in your District about this unique event and our invitation for Rotarians from all over to attend. Attached please find an event flyer with more details regarding both our Charter Celebration dinner and the Golf Tournament the following day. If you would like to attend - please let me know by return email as soon as possible - so we can assure you of a ticket before they are sold out. We expect many, many friends to be joining us from the region, from RI HQ and from around the world.
